Exploring with Mr Higgins

A few years back, my friend and exceptional bike mechanic, Nikolaus, built me a special bike. It was like blast from the past. It is a beautiful machine with disc brakes, professional powder coat paint and a single speed.

Yes, you read that right: a single-speed bike.

It is a throwback of sorts. I do have to carefully approach hills and anticipate braking. But it really is like I’m 10 years old again riding my JC Higgins bike.

So the bike that Nik had christened “Witerok Crozzbyrd” became “Mr Higgins.”

He’s my neighborhood explorer. The bike I take on short jaunts on The Loop or down the block. A few miles to clear my head and get refreshed.

Nice to have Mr Higgins back. And on Tucson streets. Again.
